Return to Work following COVID Pandemic 2020

Firstly I would like to say ‘Thank You’ for your support in our temporary business closure, it has been a difficult few months but we hope now to be able to move on and provide you with top quality Occupational Health provisions.

There will however be a couple of changes in the way we deliver our medicals and health surveillance:

  1. All staff will be wearing PPE; this will be a combination of gloves, aprons, masks and face visors.

  2. We will maintain a 2m distance as much as practically possible

  3. We will be taking the temperature of every patient that we see, either in clinic or out on site, if their temperature is above 37.8 we will not be able to commence the appointment

  4. A COVID declaration will need to be completed by every patient that we see, this will be to confirm they don’t have any of the following symptoms:

  • continuous cough

A new continuous cough is where you:

  • have a new cough that’s lasted for an hour

  • have had 3 or more episodes of coughing in 24 hours

  • are coughing more than usual

  • fever/high temperature (37.8C or greater)

  • loss of, or change in, sense of smell or taste (anosmia)

  1. We will not be able to perform spirometry lung function tests as this is an aerosol omitting procedure which currently is not safe.

We anticipate we will get the green light on this procedure from January 2021

However, we will still be monitoring lung function with the questionnaire and any red flags we will allocate a test as soon as we are able.

If there appears to be something urgently wrong highlighted in the questionnaire we will refer the employee to their GP.

This will be a requirement of HSE and will not be able to be removed from Health and Safety Health Surveillance.

  1. We will require more time to clean the workspace between each patient that we see and will have hand sanitisers available, if handwash facilities aren’t in the room we work from. We will have sanitisers for your employees too.

  2. We will require the room we work from to be cleaned regularly, as we are moving from various sites and need to maintain a very high standard of infection control. If upon arrival to site our allocated room is not clean we will ask that this is done before we start our medicals.

Services that will not change:

Audiogram – hearing tests

Blood Pressure checks

Skin checks

Height, weight, BMI

Drug and Alcohol monitoring

HAV’s monitoring

Cholesterol checks

Keystone Vision checks- Fork Lift Truck drivers

Work Station Assessments

Hep B Vaccinations

Seasonal Flu Vaccines

Urine Dip testing – Diabetic Checks

Management Referrals in clinic with the Doctor

HGV, PSV DVLA Medicals

We are also working on specific COVID related Occupational Health support such as Antibody Testing and Individual Risk Assessments, please contact me for more information.

We are aware that the above list may look daunting but it will soon become the ‘new normal’ and you won’t even notice that we have made the changes.

Our priority will continue to be the safety of our staff and your employees.

If your site has any documentation you will need Cavell and Lind to complete prior to arrival or upon arrival to site please can you let me know.

Our clinic open date will be Monday 20th July

Visits will recommence from Monday 27th July

Thank you
